Important Covid-19 update from Midwestern Seminary

Posted May 14, 2021 by Staff

  1. In accordance with Mayor Lucas’s announcement last night, we are lifting all Covid-19 guidelines effective noon today, Friday, May 14. At noon, we will be free to gather indoors and outdoors without masks or distancing requirements. We may also return to our pre-Covid work locations and practices. In other words, we can resume our day-to-day functions on campus in a pre-Covid manner.
  2. All employees may get vaccinated during the workday while on the clock. As you know, Covid-19 vaccine options are now widely available. Though we do not have a vaccine requirement, we do want to help facilitate vaccination for employees who desire to be vaccinated. Please make sure and coordinate with your supervisor accordingly.
  3. Mask wearing will now be optional for employees and students. We encourage you to continue to review CDC guidance—including personal hygiene practices, travel advisements, and mask wearing in select circumstances—we, institutionally, are adjusting as KCMO has now adjusted. Thus, as of noon today, if you desire to continue to wear a mask, you are free to do so, but they will no longer be institutionally mandated.
  4. Lastly, I want to express a strong word of appreciation to each one of you. Dr. John Mark Yeats has done a stellar job leading our Covid-19 response efforts. Though the past year has been trying, the seminary community has responded with flexibility, patience, resolve, and happy compliance. Thank you for your effort and attitude in this regard.

If circumstances change in the future due to a Covid-19 resurgence, mutation, or some other unrelated outbreak, we will review and adjust accordingly.

For more information, you can review the updated Mask and Quarantine Policies online.
