Church Partnerships

Training men & women to serve the church.

It is our desire to partner with churches in training men and women to serve the church. Midwestern’s Church Partnerships Department plays a central role in this purpose by establishing and nurturing partnerships between local churches, Midwestern, and our students to equip the saints for the work of the ministry. Through strategic initiatives like The Timothy Track, The Midwestern Training Network, and our Contextualized Leadership Development program, we aim to make theological education more accessible within the context of a local church.

Meet Jordan Wilbanks

Jordan Wilbanks serves as the Director of Church Partnerships here at Midwestern. Before coming to Kansas City, Jordan served as a founding member and an elder at Christ Fellowship Church in Birmingham, Alabama.

Professionally, he comes from both a business and a ministry background, having served as Accounts Receivable Manager for a major domestic staffing firm based in Birmingham, and having worked on the Communications team of Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes.

Jordan received his education in Communications from The University of Miami. Originally from Jacksonville, FL, Jordan has been a part of Baptist churches in five different cities, and grew up as the son of a Southern Baptist pastor. He loves the church, and his aim at Midwestern is to see the church in this region grow and flourish, as we all work together to proclaim Christ, make disciples of all nations, and give glory to our Father.

Our Residential MDiv Degree

Interested in residential education but concerned about putting ministry experience on hold? Midwestern Seminary now has a way to gain valuable ministry experience while you pursue your studies.

The Timothy Track offers select residential M.Div. students at Midwestern Seminary in-the-field ministry training in a local ministry context. In addition to their regular studies, students in the Timothy Track will spend their first two semesters participating in an internship with one of Midwestern’s partner churches. In addition to gaining valuable ministry experience, all Timothy Track students will receive a 50% scholarship toward all on-campus classes during their first year. Students in the program can also earn up to 12 credit hours of practicums toward their degree during their internship year.

Master of Theological Studies

The Midwestern Training Network is a group of individuals and churches that are partnering with Midwestern to pursue an accredited, accessible, and affordable Master of Theological Studies. Combining the rigor of academic study with real ministry experience, our concentrations in Church Planting, Preaching & Pastoral Ministry, and Leadership have been developed by proven ministry leaders to deliver a truly unique and effective educational experience. The program is simple: students take eleven core classes and four field practicums in their area of emphasis. Similar to the Doctor of Ministry model, our practicums challenge students to apply what they are learning under the guidance of their field supervisor.

Students can begin the program at any time they choose, since the program has six entry points throughout the year. Core classes can be taken fully online, on-campus, or in our innovative hybrid format. The remaining ministry practicums can be completed in any ministry setting.

Whether you’re a church looking to develop your staff or interns, or an individual preparing for a lifetime of ministry, we encourage you to consider the Midwestern Training Network.
