Why Midwestern Seminary?

Because everything we do is for the Church. From faculty and students who share your passion for the local church, to degrees and resources that equip you to serve God’s people, Midwestern Seminary strives to help you faithfully fulfill God’s calling for you.

Professors With Pastoral Experience

Our mission for the Church informs everything we do, especially in the classroom. When you study with us, you train for ministry with professors who are pastors, missionaries, and counselors.

Hear From Our Faculty

Pastoral ministry constantly informs my life and teaching in the classroom. It reminds me that I am teaching men and women with real sin and real suffering and that I am equipping them for front-lines work that has a real opponent in Satan and a true Victor in Christ.

Dr. Jason DeRouchie

Research Professor of Old Testament & Biblical Theology, Pastor at Sovereign Joy Baptist Church

Hear From Our Faculty

You may not serve it directly as a pastor or minister, but you should plan on serving the church at least indirectly in a ministry supportive of, or supervised by, the church. In whatever capacity you minister, to serve faithfully is to serve from a heart of love.

Dr. Jason K. Allen

President, Professor of Preaching & Pastoral Ministry, Pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church

Hear From Our Faculty

My pastoral ministry keeps my teaching practical, grounded in everyday life, and as a form of shepherding. It helps me create an environment in the classroom where students are nurtured spiritually.

Dr. Patrick Schreiner

Associate Professor of New Testament & Biblical Theology, Pastor at Emmaus Church

Hear From Our Faculty

I am especially encouraged when I see students understand the value of the biblical languages for preaching and teaching God's Word. I also rejoice in the way that MBTS students value the local church and are committed to healthy leadership and congregational life.

Dr. Todd Chipman

Associate Professor of Biblical Studies, Pastor of The Master's Community Church

Hear From Our Faculty

As I teach students to prepare sermons and proclaim God's Word, I am thinking about the churches in which they will serve and preach. The health of the local church in the future depends, to a large degree, on the health of the pulpits—so I am ultimately teaching for the Church.

Dr. Jared Bumpers

Associate Professor of Preaching & Evangelism, Teaching Pastor at Antioch Bible Baptist Church
