Midwestern Women’s Institute is a residential certificate program that exists to equip women to serve their families, churches, and communities by providing them with ministry training, spiritual encouragement, and biblical fellowship. We offer classes on campus during the week with additional options for credit through chapel and conference classes. Our classes are open to all women in the Kansas City area who seek to learn and be equipped no matter their marital status or occupation.

*Optional Hermeneutics Workshop taught by Destiny Miller for additional training and practice. Tuesdays from 2-3:30pm during both terms.
Cost
SBC students – $10 per class
Non-SBC Students – $20 per class

Midwestern Women’s Institute (MWI) provides a course of study for any woman regardless of marital or occupational status who wants to enable and enhance spiritual and practical skills necessary for effective service. MWI offers courses designed to equip women for ministry in the home, church, and community.
Completion of a Certificate of Christian Studies satisfies the requirements with the International Missions Board (IMB).
Courses with MWI are not equivalent to college level courses and may not be used to substitute undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral degree requirements.

Courses for the MWI Certificate are offered on campus in Kansas City.
Duration:
Students attend classes in the evenings and complete the requirements in two to three years.
Distinctive Resources:
MWI students have access to community life that provides informal educational experiences, religious fellowship, and opportunity for reflection upon the meaning of faith in its relation to preparation for ministry.
Curriculum:
Two different levels of study are available.
Certificate of Ministry Studies: 10 credits
Granted to the student who completes all 10 credits of required courses.
Advanced Certificate of Ministry Studies: 15 credits
Granted to the student who completes all 10 credits of required courses and 5 credits of elective courses.

Our MWI Resource Library has a number of Bible studies, books, and other resources that can be checked out by women at Midwestern and by local church members. The online catalog, mwi.libib.com, has links to both our Resource Library and the Video Bible Studies that are available to be checked out in the upper left corner of the screen. When you find a book or study you’d like to check out contact the MWI office to check availability and schedule a pickup time. An information card and a $30 deposit are required when you check out a resource and the deposit will be returned to you when return the study.
