In order to love our neighbor and limit the spread of Covid-19 on the campus of MBTS and Spurgeon College as well as to meet the instructions of civil authorities, the following policy will be in place until further notice is given:
If a student or employee has had direct contact with a person who has been diagnosed with Covid-19 recently, that person is asked to quarantine for the recommended 14-day period. “Direct Contact” is defined as close proximity (less than 6 feet), or direct physical contact with a person who has COVID-19 in excess of 15 minutes of duration.
In order to facilitate a healthy campus, Students, Faculty, and Staff are expected to practice social distancing (a distance greater than 6 feet), good hygiene, and mask wearing. Supervisors and directors should do everything possible to limit work environments that would require a violation of social distancing expectations. Should a member of the MBTS community be careless or perpetually negligent in these matters, disciplinary action as spelled out in the student handbook or employee handbook may be the result.
Should exposure requiring quarantine happen:
- Students should notify their faculty members via email and take part only in the Zoom portion of class until the quarantine is lifted.
- Students in dorm housing should work with their RA to evaluate the next steps of quarantine should the need arise. MBTS and Spurgeon College have a flexible support network to ensure the student’s needs are met while helping to protect others.
- Faculty and staff should report their exposure to their immediate supervisor. MBTS will evaluate the situation and work with the employee for the best course of action to maintain productivity during the quarantine period.
Quarantine is never desired, but it is necessary to help maintain the health of our campus community. We will work together with grace and flexibility as we walk through this together.
