Youth Minister

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be a Christian who exhibits evidence of spiritual growth
  • Must be male
  • Must be willing to become a WBC member
  • Must be willing to submit to a background check
  • Must be appointed by the Elder Board
  • Meet scriptural qualifications for elders

Responsibilities

  • Preaching/Teaching – The Youth Minister will be the primary teacher (although not the only teacher) for all youth gatherings, which currently take place on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
  • Discipleship – The Youth Minister should create, foster and help maintain a commitment to discipleship. Utilizing the current and future youth staff, the Youth Minister needs to focus on making disciples of our teenagers. We expect our Youth Minister to pursue relationships with the families of our teenagers in order to help strengthen the partnership between the parents, whose role is to raise their teens, and support them in that responsibility.
  • Oversight of Children’s Ministry – The Youth Minister will regularly meet with the children’s ministry leaders to determine what their needs are and to gather updates on how that ministry is progressing.
  • Shepherding Care – The Youth Minister will assist the elders in their care for others at WBC (e.g., counseling, shut-ins, hospital visitations, funerals, weddings, lunch or breakfast meetings, etc.), as time allows

  • Salary – based on experience
  • Health insurance – It will be the responsibility of the Youth Minister to secure his own heath insurance.
  • Medical expense account – WBC will pay up to $1,500.00 annually for out-of-pocket health care related expenses.
  • Paid time off (PTO) – This represents a block of hours that the Youth Pastor will use at his discretion.

1-2 years = 184 hours

3-4 years = 192 hours

5-6 years = 200 hours

7-8 years = 208 hours

9+ years = 216 hours

  • Work week – 2 days off per week
  • Conference – One paid conference annually.
  • Outside ministry – Outside presentations to perform ministry in other places would be allowed with board approval on a case-by-case basis.
  • Car (or gas) reimbursement
  • Cell phone reimbursement
