About This Role

The Youth Ministry Director is responsible for developing RiverPark Church’s Youth Ministry in size, depth, and maturity of its volunteer system. The Director will:

  • Build the Ministry into a place where youth want to attend and bring their friends.
  • Implement curriculum/programming that helps youth choose to love and obey Jesus in all areas of life.
  • Invest in the volunteers to help them grow in their devotion to Jesus and to be inspired to serve in meaningful ways.
  • Ensure the ministry complies with all relevant RiverPark policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities and Tasks

Leadership Development

  • Care for the souls of the volunteers. Frequently check in to prevent burnout. Find ways to motivate and inspire them.
  • Shepherd Ministry volunteers and help them walk with Jesus better.
  • Identify gifts in each of the volunteers and help them to develop into leaders.
  • Develop leaders among the youth who will serve the younger generations of youth as the ministry matures.

Curriculum Selection & Creation: Must fit the following criteria…

  • Appropriate for RiverPark’s size, space, and volunteer capacity
  • Helps youth grasp the Gospel well enough that they can choose to follow Jesus themselves.
  • Trains youth to understand Scriptural truths to the point of applying it in their daily lives.

Parent Communication & Partnership

  • Keep parents informed about the content being taught and how they can support their youth’s growth at home.
  • Host at least one parent meeting per year to help them model following Christ at home.
  • Recruit parents to help out in Youth Ministry programming where appropriate.
  • Mobilize parents to invite their friends who have youth to check out RiverPark’s Youth Ministry.

Leadership of Youth, Programming, & Events: Ensure that…

  • All regular youth meetings are staffed with trained and vetted volunteers.
  • Programs run smoothly and help youth to learn to love and obey Jesus.
  • Develop appropriate relationships with students and demonstrate care to create opportunities for spiritual shepherding and mentoring.

This position reports directly to the Lead Pastor.

  • Demonstrate a Christ-like attitude through all interactions with the congregation, staff, and volunteers.
  • Invest in and invite the lost to know Jesus and come to RiverPark Church.

Your Schedule This is a part-time, hourly position intended to take 10 hours a week above and beyond typical church attendance and participation.
