Oakland Baptist Church is a medium-sized, rural, Southern Baptist Church located in Disputanta, Virginia.  Oakland Baptist affirms/confesses the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.  The position to be filled is that of Youth Pastor / Youth Director.  This is a singular position, and the title of the candidate selected will be determined based on qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy Chapter 3, as well as the candidate’s ordination status.  The Youth Pastor / Youth Director shall establish sustainable ministries for the church by (1) strategic planning and development, (2) recruiting volunteer partners, and (3) managing the ministry.


RESPONSIBILITIES (Included but not limited to):

Plan, coordinate, and lead weekly fellowship, Sunday School, and Bible Study activities for the youth.

Advise and assist in the area of children’s ministries.

Lead, plan, and coordinate multigenerational actitivies that promote spiritual growth, church unity, fellowship and

mentorship across all ages.

Plan and lead regular mission activities for the children and youth.

Plan, coordinate, and lead regular mission trips for all ages and a youth mission trip each summer.

Lead, plan, and coordinate VBS and Summer Camp.

Keep the congregation informed of youth and children’s activities through regular updates in the bulletin and

other methods of communication.

Lead outreach to youth and families within the community.

Administrative duties required by position and other church duties assigned or directed.



The Youth Pastor / Youth Director shall work under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor.



Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of Divinity, Theology, Biblical Studies, or related field.

Prior experience working with and teaching church youth.

Strong communication skills with youth, children, and their parents.
