Journeyman Electrician – Maintenance – Full Time

JOB PURPOSE
Perform electrical work and inspection on wiring, fixtures, outlets, and other electrical components. Replace and repair electrical equipment and devices as required while maintaining a deep understanding of building code regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems across the Midwestern campus.
  • Interpret technical drawings to determine the layout of electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faulty wiring.
  • Keep electrical systems up to date utilizing best safety standards and practices.
  • Complete work orders pertaining to electrical systems on the Midwestern campus.
  • Upgrade electrical components as needed.
  • Document problems, prepare reports, and update blueprints as components change.
  • Order needed electrical components for stock replenishment and electrical repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair appliance electrical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable standards.
  • Maintain a high standard of operational maintenance for on-campus electrical systems.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Include, but not limited to:
  • Christian with high integrity, actively pursuing a relationship with God.
  • Relevant hands-on experience preferred.
  • The following certifications:
    • Completion of a 3-to-5-year apprenticeship program.
    • Journeyman Electrician license or certification.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical principles, construction, and wiring schematics.
  • In-depth understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and any other relevant safety standards.
  • Able to read and understand electrical blueprints and schematics.
  • Able to utilize a wide variety of electrical tools & equipment.
  • Must possess excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Able to multi-task, analyze workload, and prioritize as necessary for the benefit of the department.
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail.
  • Able to take the initiative to complete the duties of the position without the need of direct supervision.
  • Able to learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency.
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as a part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must possess a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to show a desire and willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to pass background screening, including driving record.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm
  • Evening or weekends hours may be required (campus emergencies or other unforeseen circumstances).
  • May be required to work in extreme weather conditions
  • High noise levels requiring hearing protection.
  • May be required to work at heights, or in small, confined spaces.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Able lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Able to use electrical and power tools.
