Fortuna Baptist Church is a vibrant and growing Bible-believing congregation committed to glorifying God through the making of disciples and service to rural communities in central Missouri. Our Sunday services average 350 attendees, with approximately 100 children and youth participating each week. As an elder-led, congregationally governed church, we prioritize fostering a culture of discipleship and mission, with a focus on church planting and revitalization. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth & Children’s Pastor to lead and grow our ministry to the next generation, building a strong foundation of faith in Christ.

Position Summary:
The Youth & Children’s Pastor will oversee the development, implementation, and leadership of the children’s and youth ministries (birth through high school) at Fortuna Baptist Church. This individual will be responsible for teaching, mentoring, and discipling young people, equipping volunteers, and partnering with parents to cultivate a Christ-centered, biblically-based environment that encourages spiritual growth and maturity in the next generation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spiritual Leadership & Teaching
  • Develop and implement Christ-centered, biblically-based curricula for children and youth ministries.
  • Teach engaging, age-appropriate Bible lessons that foster spiritual growth and biblical literacy.
  • Lead regular youth group meetings, Bible studies, and discipleship programs.
  • Provide spiritual guidance, mentorship, and counseling to youth as they grow in their faith.

Program Development & Outreach

  • Oversee key ministry programs such as Wednesday Night Bible Studies, Vacation Bible School, summer camps, mission trips, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Organize social and recreational activities that foster community and fellowship among youth and children.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local schools and community organizations to reach unchurched youth and families.

Volunteer & Parental Engagement

  • Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to serve in youth and children’s ministries.
  • Provide resources and support to parents, helping them guide their children’s spiritual development.
  • Foster strong communication with parents, ensuring they are informed and engaged in ministry initiatives.

Administration & Coordination

  • Manage the budgets for children’s and youth ministries in collaboration with church leadership.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and structured environment for all ministry activities.
  • Ensure compliance with child protection policies and best practices for safety and security.
  • Utilize social media and church communication platforms to engage and inform families.

Qualifications & Expectations:

  • A clear, personal testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a strong commitment to the Gospel.
  • A passion for discipling and shepherding children and youth.
  • A bachelor’s degree in ministry, biblical studies, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in youth and/or children’s ministry preferred.
  • Strong biblical knowledge and the ability to teach sound doctrine.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to connect with children, youth, and parents in a meaningful and supportive manner.
  • Willingness to align with the mission and values of Fortuna Baptist Church.
  • Must pass a background check and adhere to church policies regarding child protection and safety.
