How is God at work in South Korea?
South Korean Christianity is facing declining numbers as young people leave the church and public trust erodes. This has prompted honest reflection among churches, celebrating God’s work while acknowledging the need for revival. Encouragingly, younger believers are challenging the status quo and pursuing gospel-centered depth over numerical growth.
The more significant shift is within the church itself as God is raising up a generation of gospel-centered Christians. In our church, young people are inviting friends, starting prayer meetings, and evangelizing in the streets. These are movements happening from within the church where God is raising a generation willing to bear social risk for the gospel.
How has Midwestern Seminary prepared you?
My time at Midwestern has been short so far, but impact extends further back than enrollment. For years I prayed for further study beyond the MDiv, but doors did not open as access, finances, timing, and alignment never fully came together. I see this as the Lord’s gracious shaping, a season of repentance, patience, and learning to wait before opening doors.
Since enrolling, the academic environment has been deeply formative. I’ve been exposed to students, professors, and resources that have broadened my thinking through books I would not otherwise have read and writing I would not otherwise have done. This has corrected a narrowed vision, helped me engage pastors more clearly, and strengthened me through online resources like chapel and For the Church resources.
