Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum GPA to move from MTS into a doctoral program? All doctoral programs generally require a graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher.
How do I complete my leveling classes? Required leveling courses can be taken online, on campus, or by independent study at any accredited institution.
Can I start doctoral seminars while I’m still finishing leveling requirements? Yes — if you’re within 12 hours of meeting all leveling requirements, you may be admitted on conditional status and begin taking seminars. All leveling and language requirements must be completed before you enter the dissertation phase.
I already have a DMin or DEdMin. Can I move into the PhD in Biblical Studies? The PhD in Biblical Studies, Biblical Ministry emphasis, is designed for maximum flexibility for those holding an accredited DMin. Transfer hours are reviewed individually by the doctoral office. Students with a DMin concentration such as Expository Preaching will often find the PhD in Biblical Studies, Biblical Preaching emphasis, a natural continuation of their studies.
