Though Midwestern’s main campus is in Kansas City, we also have classes offered in St. Louis. If you live in or near St. Louis and want to begin your theological education locally, you can take many of your undergraduate and masters classes here, and complete the rest of the degree in Kansas City or online. Our teachers are also pastors, combining academic rigor with pastoral relevance, serving other pastors and their churches in the St. Louis area.

Dr. Michael Atherton

Dr. Atherton has served as the Senior Pastor of FBC O’Fallon (MO) since 2017 and been a Senior Pastor since 1999. He has been teaching in the Seminary (Gateway Seminary and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary) since 2011. He has earned a D.Min and Ph.D from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as an Ed.D from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Dr. Zach Crook

Dr. Zach Crook is the Senior Pastor at Fee Fee Baptist Church in Bridgeton, MO, having served there since 2019. Previously, he served churches in Texas for fifteen years. He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Wayland Baptist University. He has a Master’s of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Ph.D from Dallas Baptist University.

Dr. Brandon Kiesling

Dr. Kiesling has served as a pastor at First Baptist Church O’Fallon since 2018. Previously, he worked as Assistant Professor of Evangelism at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Hannibal LaGrange University and a masters of divinity and Ph.D at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Dr. Jonathan Swan

Jonathan E. Swan serves as the Associate Pastor of Education and Discipleship at First Baptist Church O’Fallon (MO) and Managing Editor of Eikon: A Journal for Biblical Anthropology. He holds a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Southwest Baptist University as well as a M.Div. and Ph.D. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Dr. Brett Vaden

Dr. Vaden is a deacon at The Journey West County and the Director of Discipleship and Curriculum Development at The Journey, having served there since 2016. Previously, he worked as Assistant Director of the Schools Division for Memoria Press. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Moody Bible Institute and a masters of divinity and PhD at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
