Biography

Bobby Jamieson joined the Midwestern Seminary faculty in 2026 and teaches courses in biblical studies and theology. His academic interests include New Testament literature, the Trinity, the person of Christ, and how systematic theology serves exegesis.

Jamieson has authored several books, including Everything Is Never Enough: Ecclesiastes’ Surprising Path to Resilient Happiness (Waterbrook, 2025); with Tyler Wittman, Biblical Reasoning: Christological and Trinitarian Rules for Exegesis (Baker Academic, 2022); The Paradox of Sonship: Christology in the Epistle to the Hebrews (IVP Academic, 2021); The Path to Being a Pastor: A Guide for the Aspiring (Crossway, 2021), and Jesus’ Death and Heavenly Offering in Hebrews (Cambridge University Press, 2019). His current research and writing projects include a book on the Trinity in John, a translation and edition of Didymus the Blind’s De Trinitate (with Matthew R. Crawford and J. D. Hicks), and a book with the working title Care: Cherishing Life in an Inhuman Age.

Before coming to Midwestern Seminary, Dr. Jamieson served for nearly a decade in full-time pastoral ministry, first as an associate pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., then as the senior pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He enjoys reading great writing, spending time outside with his family and, all too infrequently, surfing. He and his wife have four beautiful children and a beloved mutt named Rusty.

Faculty Q&A

I love Midwestern Seminary’s For the Church vision! It means that every book I assign, every lecture, every discussion—all that we do at Midwestern Seminary is for real-time, real-life ministry in the local church. Theology and spirituality are not meant to be studied in abstraction or pontification. We train and study to serve in the church, to carry out the “one anothers” in the New Testament, and make disciples of Christ to the ends of the earth.

It is a sacred privilege to sit with students and unpack the glorious implications of the gospel in all of life and ministry. Let’s enjoy Jesus together!

The strong desire for full-strength truth, the longing for a vibrant and biblical spirituality, and a commitment to serving Christ are a source of great encouragement. I can’t wait to see all of the church planters, pastors, missionaries, and ministry leaders we get to train through Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College.
