Pastor

First Southern Baptist Church in Larned, Kansas is prayerfully seeking their next Pastor.  Larned is a small community of just under 4,000, and is the county seat for Pawnee County, Kansas.  This will be a bi-vocational position.  Responsibilities will include:

1. Personal Spiritual Development

  •  Devote time to Bible study, prayer, and spiritual growth
  • Seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance for preaching, teaching, and overall ministry.
  • Attend retreats or conferences for renewal and encouragement.

2. Role Modeling

  • Demonstrate Christ-like character, stewardship, and discipleship in daily life.
  • Exhibit the fruit of the Spirit (e.g., love, joy, peace, patience) as a personal witness.

3. Ministry and Outreach

  • Lead the church in evangelism, caring ministries, and community engagement.
  • Develop and oversee initiatives that effectively reach and serve the local community.

4. Member Visitation and Pastoral Care

  • Visit church members and prospects to provide spiritual support and fellowship.
  • Offer counseling for personal, family, grief, and spiritual needs.

5. Church Administration and Governance

  • Chair the Church Council to plan, organize, and evaluate ministries.
  • Work with deacons, officers, and committees to fulfill responsibilities.
  • Moderate church business meetings, ensuring orderly governance.

6. Team Leadership and Discipleship

  • Guide and equip church staff, ministry volunteers, and lay leaders.
  • Train and mentor others to foster spiritual growth and effective service.
  • Recruit and raise up future church leaders

7. Denominational Cooperation

  • Represent the church in association, convention, and denominational meetings.
  • Maintain partnerships and relationships that further the church’s mission.

8. Vision and Oversight

  • Lead in developing and implementing the church’s mission, worship, and ministries.
  • Encourage strategic planning and alignment of all church activities.

9. Ordinances and Doctrine

  • Preside over observances of the Lord’s Supper and baptisms.
  • Uphold and teach biblical doctrine referencing scriptures.

10. Missions Support

  • Cultivate relationships with missions agencies and other churches.
  • Encourage congregation-wide involvement in global and local missions.

11. Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure background checks and appropriate training for ministry volunteers.
  • Maintain a safe environment through regular compliance reviews (e.g.,MinistrySafe).

Through these responsibilities, the pastor fosters spiritual maturity, provides strong leadership, and models faithful discipleship, ensuring the church’s mission is carried out effectively.
