JOB PURPOSE
To work with the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Midwestern) Communications and Marketing team to drive marketing strategy through Midwestern’s web properties and digital marketing. A background in web content management, with particular experience in WordPress, in addition to strong project management and communications skills related to marketing content are desired.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Content Management:
-
Develop, manage, and update content for Midwestern’s websites to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with institutional goals.

Collaborate with various departments to gather and incorporate content updates.
-
Implement SEO best practices to enhance website visibility and user engagement.
-
Use existing design templates to develop marketing landing pages, including campaigns, events, and academic program landing pages.
-

WordPress Management:
-
Oversee the administration of Midwestern’s WordPress site.
-
Ensure WordPress functionality, usability, and overall performance.
-
Manage WordPress plugins and themes, ensuring they are up-to-date and functional.
-
Assign site ownership to qualified site managers and provide training to other offices on campus.
-
Respond to web project requests within established deadlines.
-
Work with departments across campus to discern various needs and how to implement needed content updates to WordPress, including academic program updates.

Design and Multimedia:
-
Coordinate with the design team to integrate multimedia content, including images, videos, and infographics.
-
Ensure all web content is visually appealing and adheres to Midwestern’s branding guidelines.

Analytics and Reporting:
-
Monitor website traffic and performance using tools such as Google Analytics.
-
Provide regular reports on website metrics and suggest improvements based on data analysis.
-
Implement strategies to increase website traffic and engagement.
-
Assist in developing a monthly marketing report for senior leadership.
-

Digital Marketing:
-
Implement SEO and Google Search strategies.
-
Assist the Director of Marketing in various digital marketing efforts – Facebook ads, ftc.co content marketing, and other digital advertising channels.
-
Help develop and execute Midwestern’s email marketing strategy.
-

Content creation:
-
Serve on the Communications Office’s content team and assist with content creation such as blog posts, social media captions, campaign copywriting, and email marketing.

Quality Assurance:
-
Conduct regular audits of the websites to identify and resolve content, layout, and functionality issues.
-
Ensure all content complies with web standards and accessibility guidelines.
-

Other Communications Related Functions:
-
If applicable, utilize other communications skills related to photography, video, design etc.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Include, but not limited to:

Christian with high integrity, actively pursuing a relationship with God

Commitment to the mission and values of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, web development, or a related field.
-
Proficiency in WordPress, including experience with various plugins and themes.
-
Strong understanding of SEO principles and web analytics.
-
Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
-
Preferred Qualifications
-
Three (3) years of experience in web content management, preferably in an academic or non-profit environment
-
Experience working within a theological or academic institution
-
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or other design software
-
Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices for web content.

Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and basic web design principles is a plus.
-
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
-
Proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.

Able to multi-task, analyze workload, and prioritize as necessary for the benefit of the department
