Youth Pastor

Overview
We are a Bible-centered, non-denominational church located in Lancaster, CA that is looking for a Youth Pastor. Our hope is to find someone who has a heart for youth ministry and desires to see students come to know Christ and mature in their faith. He will also work with the elders and the rest of our leadership team to help our church as a whole in fulfilling the Great Commission of making disciples. This position also has the potential to transition to an Associate Pastor of Adult Ministries role over the next few years as other staff retire.

Functions/Responsibilities

  • Lead our Wednesday and Sunday youth group meetings.
  • Teach expository sermons at our Wednesday youth group meetings.
  • Organize the teaching schedule for our Youth Group Sunday Service.
  • Work with the volunteer leaders of our youth group to effectively care for the students in our youth group.
  • Plan youth group activities, including annual Summer and Winter Camps.
  • Be involved with our church staff throughout the week by being in the church office during office hours to help provide pastoral care for the various ministries of our church.
  • Be involved in various aspects of church life. This may include leading or being a part of a ministry outside of the Youth Ministry. Specific ministry involvements will depend upon the giftedness and interests of the individual, but our desire is to have someone who is invested in caring for the people of our church and being willing to serve in various capacities in order to meet the needs of the church that may arise.
  • Be part of one of our church’s growth groups.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Elder qualified as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
  • Align with the doctrines of our church (see https://www.valleybible.net/what-we-believe and https://www.valleybible.net/position-papers)
  • Good communicator to a broad audience
  • Knows how to and willing to work as part of a team
  • Proactive/takes initiative
  • Servant/teachable
  • Be able to relationally connect with the people of our church
  • Master of Divinity degree or equivalent preferred (can be in process)
