Tanner Street Church of God
Tanner Street Church of God (Sikeston, MO) – Youth Pastor
The Big Picture
The Tanner Street Church of God (tannerstreetchurch.org) is seeking a person called to serve in ministry to students (Middle and High School Students) by evangelizing and discipling teenagers with the Biblical message of Christ.
The Tanner Street Church makes an impact on the community, the wider Church both in the state and the nation, and also reaches out to the world. Founded in 1942, the church remains relevant and vibrant. During the church’s history, senior pastors have had tenures ranging from 12 -17 years of fruitful ministry. The church installed the first youth pastor in the mid-1970’s and has continued including full-time youth pastors on the staff team ever since. This is a congregation that has succeeded in having positive relationships with their pastors and all associate pastors. Here is a place that gives each pastor an opportunity to hone their skills, grow their ministry, develop leadership effectiveness, grow the church, and reach out to the community and beyond. A student ministries pastor will find people ready to serve as volunteers, a winsome facility designed for teenagers, and viable connectivity to the local community and to the Church of God in Missouri and nationally.
The Sikeston community has so much to offer. We have great shopping, unique restaurants such as the very famous Lamberts Cafe, recreation opportunities, historic downtown district, art galleries, museums, professional rodeo, and much more.
The Youth Pastor will lead and develop all aspects of a program to win teenagers to faith in Christ, to build them into maturing disciples , and to engage teenagers in service and ministry functions. Weekly functions include a Sunday evening youth meeting/gathering (the primary weekly ministry event), a Wednesday evening youth ministry, and Sunday school and worship. The current youth-age ministry does not yet require fulltime work and the full-time Youth Pastor will also include directing the children’s ministry.
The compensation for the Student Ministries Pastor is a livable salary and will compare to the total compensation for a teacher in the local school district, which is dependent on candidate’s level of education and experience. The entry level compensation starts at $44,000 per annum and that includes salary and benefits.
