Position Overview:
The Minister of Worship will provide leadership and vision for the worship ministry at Springfield Baptist Church. This role includes planning and leading Christ-centered worship services, mentoring a team of volunteers and musicians, and fostering a culture of worship that aligns with the church’s mission to glorify God and make disciples.

Springfield Baptist Church, located in the heart of Springfield, TN, is a small-town rural community “minutes from Nashville but miles from ordinary.” We are a vibrant and welcoming congregation dedicated to loving God, loving people, and making disciples. For over 150 years, the church has been a cornerstone of the community, offering opportunities for worship, spiritual growth, and outreach. Through ministries for all ages and community service projects, we are trying to make it hard to go to hell from Robertson County.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Worship Leadership:
- Plan and lead weekly worship services, incorporating music, prayer, and scripture.
- Collaborate with the Senior Pastor to align worship with sermon themes.
- Conduct rehearsals with worship teams, ensuring musical excellence and spiritual preparation.
- Team Development:
- Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers, including musicians, vocalists, youth/ children’s programs and technical (A/V) support staff.
- Foster spiritual growth among team members through prayer, devotions, and fellowship.
- Creative Planning:
- Develop innovative worship elements (e.g., multimedia, special music).
- Coordinate seasonal services (e.g., Christmas, Easter).
- Administrative Duties:
- Oversee the worship ministry budget, purchasing, and scheduling.
- Maintain worship technology, including sound, lighting, and projection systems.
- Pastoral Care:
- Support the spiritual needs of the congregation as a pastoral staff member.
- Assist with other ministry areas as needed.
Qualifications:
- Spiritual and Theological:
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a call to ministry.
- Agreement with Springfield Baptist Church’s statement of faith.
- Musical and Leadership Skills:
- Proficiency in leading worship vocally and preferably instrumentally (e.g., guitar, piano).
- Ability to arrange music and work with diverse musical styles.
- Proficiency in developing intergenerational and diverse relationships.
- Experience:
- Previous experience leading worship in a church setting preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a team.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in music, ministry, or a related field required. Masters preferred. Theological training a plus.
