Pastoral Resident

Overview

The Pastoral Residency Program exists to provide training and development to men who aspire to pastoral ministry. This program is a full-time position for 1 year with a possibility for a 2nd year. This opportunity will provide opportunities to grow in a variety of church ministries with a primary focus on Youth and Family Ministries.

Areas of Responsibilities and Leadership

Residency Training

  • Meet weekly with Lead Pastor for prayer, planning, and development
  • Complete required reading assignments and book summaries
  • Shadow Lead Pastor when able in a variety of ministry opportunities such as counseling, pastoral visitation, service planning, weddings, and funerals

Youth/Family Ministry

  • Lead and organize effective youth programs implementing biblical teaching, discipleship, fellowship, worship, and evangelism, as well as ministry and mission opportunities.
  • Work in partnership with Associate Pastor at First Baptist for Wednesday Youth Group and event planning.
  • Be actively involved with youth in the local school community, including students, parents, and school staff.
  • Schedule activities and events for the Youth in addition to the Wednesday Youth Group.
  • Establish and maintain a biblical philosophy of youth ministry.
  • Be actively involved with our Kid’s Club Ministry (Pre K-6th Grade)

Church

  • Cooperate with the Christian Education committee with vision and planning.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled church board & business meetings.
  • Strategic planning with Lead Pastor and Deacons.

Qualifications

  • Meet biblical qualifications of a church leader, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Acts 20:28, Titus 1:6-9, and 1 Peter 5:2-3.
  • Agree with doctrine of our church statement of faith.
  • Able to teach the Word of God accurately and effectively.
  • 4-Year degree in biblical studies preferred, but not required
