Pastor

The Bi-Vocational Pastor is responsible for leading the Church in determining its mission and purpose, and then to select objectives and goals that will assist in fulfilling its mission. He proclaims the Gospel; provides pastoral care for members and other persons in the community as needed. He provides administrative leadership in the Church with the staff and Deacons. He serves as an enabler to assist and involve the church members in the work of the church.

Some specific responsibilities are listed below:

  • Prayer and preparation of weekly sermons, preaching and conducting worship services.
  • Spiritual oversight and leadership direction to church leaders and the congregation.
  • Care and direction of church members and Deacons in caring for those in need in the community.
  • Guidance of events such as, but not limited to; weddings, funerals, hospital and nursing home visits, counseling, community visitation, and phone calls.
  • Planning and conducting church ordinances, such as The Lord’s Supper and Baptisms.
  • Serve as a church representative in community projects and organizations, from local Ministerial Alliance to county, state and even national events, especially if related to the Southern Baptist Denomination.
  • Maintain some business hours in the church building through the week. (This can be discussed and can be flexible.)
  • Supervision of the maintenance of the church building and parsonage and reporting to the designated persons, such as trustees or deacons.
