Part- Time Minister of Worship

Primary Function:

The Minister of Worship is responsible for providing spiritual leadership for the congregation and the planning and development of people and ministries for Christ-centered worship in the church.

Responsibilities:

  • General:
    • Work under the general supervision of the Pastor
    • Join with the ministry staff in weekly staff meetings, church business meetings, and other leadership planning/development
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor
  • Music & Worship:
    • Recruit and lead paid and volunteer worship team to develop, communicate, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive vision for worship in accordance with the church’s vision and initiatives
    • Plan weekly order of worship and lead a weekly practice for band and vocalists
    • Offer ongoing training opportunities for volunteers to develop their music and ministry skills
    • Prepare budget requests to provide for worship ministry needs and coordinate purchasing of equipment
    • Develop a creative planning team to encourage effective and creative worship
    • Organize volunteers and equipment for AV/media ministry
    • Maintain instruments to keep them in shape for professional use
    • Ability to lead vocally while playing guitar or keyboard strongly preferred
    • Willingness to learn and master technology for online live stream worship
  • Administration:
    • Current working knowledge of streaming technology and other online tools
    • Lead an effort to upgrade church wide technology and be alert to continual upgrading opportunities
    • Maintain all necessary licenses and keep required records
    • Purchase music ministry resources as needed
    • Maintain church owned equipment including instruments, sound equipment, and media equipment
    • Steward the annual music budget in a responsible manner
    • Take a “minister first” approach to the artists and volunteers under your care

Qualifications:

  • Exhibits a deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Is in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
  • Professional or church staff experience preferred
  • Embraces a role in ministry beyond specific areas and is eager to be a disciple-maker to accomplish the mission of the church
  • Skilled at leading with a worship band, vocalists, and instrumentalists while having an appreciation for variety in music
  • Desires to fully participate in church life and develop a growing love in Christ for all the people while providing effective ministry care
  • Cultivates a prayer-filled life and extends that to the platform in leading people in worship
  • Excels and enjoys recruiting and training volunteers for public worship
  • Demonstrates clear leadership and communication skills from the platform by direction the players and vocalists but also by encouraging the congregation’s participation
  • Able to take constructive criticism and seek out input from those with different ideas
  • Possesses administrative skills and will be able to lead by example and delegate when necessary
  • An understanding of technology including audio, video, lighting, on-screen media, and live streaming
  • A self-starter. Able to cast a vision and motivate people to work toward that goal
  • A team player. Able to work in a collaborative way with staff and volunteers
  • Be seen as a welcoming ambassador for our church
