The Director of Children’s Ministries reports directly to the Pastoral leadership and is a key member of our church who is responsible for overseeing all aspects of ministry for children from birth through 5th grade. The individual in this position will undergo a thorough background check and vetting process by the Board of Elders and Personnel Committee to uphold our commitment to safety and quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Volunteer Recruitment and Training: Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to serve in various capacities within the children’s ministry, including teachers, helpers, and special event coordinators.
2. Program Development: Research and purchase available commercial age-appropriate curriculum, programs, and implement activities that foster spiritual growth, discipleship, and a love for God in children.
3. Parental Engagement: Partner with parents to support them in their role as primary spiritual influencers in their children’s lives, providing resources, training, and opportunities for involvement.
4. Ministry Coordination Schedule: Create and communicate childcare needs and monthly schedules to staff and volunteers.
5. Outreach and Evangelism: In line with Pastoral initiatives and church-wide efforts, develop outreach initiatives and events to reach children and families in the community, actively sharing the love of Christ and inviting them to be part of the church family.
6. Collaboration: Attend meetings and work collaboratively with other ministry leaders and staff to ensure alignment and integration of children’s ministry with other church programs and initiatives.
7. Safety and Security: Ensure a safe and secure environment for children, implementing appropriate policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with best practices and legal requirements.
8. Budget Management: Develop and manage the budget for the children’s ministry, ensuring responsible stewardship of financial resources.
9. Evaluation and Assessment: Regularly evaluate and assess the effectiveness of the children’s ministry, and implement improvements as needed to achieve goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
- A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a strong personal faith and a passion for ministering to children and families
- Bachelor’s degree in Christian education, ministry, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in children’s ministry leadership, including program development, volunteer management, and pastoral care.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with children, parents, volunteers, and church staff .
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, delegate responsibilities, and empower others for ministry.
- A heart for outreach and evangelism, with a desire to see children and families come to know and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Give affirmation and testimony to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
