Youth Leader

Website LifePoint Crossing

LifePoint Crossing of Blue Springs, MO, is seeking a part-time youth leader/youth pastor.

About:

Currently LifePoint Youth is small, but enthusiastic and about to grow. Largely the meetings have been monthly activities (bowling, laser tag, etc.) with a short semi-formal lesson, and a graduating (and going off to college) senior has also led a once-monthly age-targeted message/meeting during the Sunday morning message. The group has generally been 2 6th graders and their friends, which has usually translated to 3-6 kids per event. This year there will be 4 additional kids who will age-up into the youth group, and while all may not attend regularly, some will and will be bringing friends, which makes this a great time to invest in these amazing kids and in the youth ministry as a whole.

Responsibilities:

The youth leader will be responsible for all elements of the LifePoint Youth ministry, including but not limited to:

  • Youth meetings/events outside of the Sunday morning service no less than two times per month or every-other week, to include both games/fun and spiritual teaching/direction
  • An age-specific Sunday morning meeting during the message time once per month
  • Personally investing in the lives of the kids in meaningful and appropriate ways, as well as developing relationships with the parents/families
  • Recruiting and training volunteers as needed or beneficial
  • Attending bi-weekly staff meetings
  • Participating in the regular life of the church community.

Formal experience and/or education are definitely a plus not a requirement; we are looking for the right person more than the right resume.

Who We Are:

LifePoint Crossing is a church which seeks to be both conservative in theology and appropriate for people with any range of starting points. We strive to speak genuine and sometimes very difficult truth in an environment and community of overwhelming grace for people who are not finished products, which is everybody. We aim to be somewhat less “fluffy” than many seeker-sensitive or seeker-driven churches while remaining a safe, fun, and welcoming community for people who would not identify as “church people” or even Christians.
Our mission is to “Life a Bigger Story,” which translates into finding the life that God has created you for by giving yourself to something greater than yourself, ultimately in finding and following Jesus to the glory of God.

Current Sunday morning attendance is around 60, for which demographics of age, race, education, and economic status are quite varied. Services are designed to be done with as much excellence as is possible, but without pretense or becoming a “show” – if something goes wrong, it’s not a disaster, it’s a chance to laugh and not take ourselves too seriously. Music is modern, sometimes with a full band experience (combination of live musicians and backing tracks), sometimes just a guitar and a voice.

Who We Are Looking For:

An individual who is fully committed to a life of love and service to God and people, who is committed to the authority of Scripture, who is well grounded in Scripture and faith, and who also understands the realities of growing up as a teenager in the real world. Clean criminal record, evidence of Christ-like character, integrity, and maturity, and a heart for youth are definitely required.

What We Can Offer:

For compensation we offer a choice between either one of the following:

  • A place to live with no rent and all utilities covered. There is a house on the church property which is currently being used as office and meeting space but could be a very livable home. It is not awesome, new, or beautiful, but it is definitely livable, and the location is tremendous for easy access to all of the Kansas City metro and virtually neighbor-less. 2 bedroom, 1 ½ bath, the church would continue to use and access the basement for storage.

Or:

  • $12,000/year salary.
