Who We Are:
Kernville Baptist Church (KBC) is a family of friendly people focused on spiritual growth through Bible-based teaching and preaching, internal fellowship and engagement with those in the community. Overall, we desire to glorify God, to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, and to be witnesses for Christ in all that we do.
KBC has a current weekly attendance of 85-100 people, with further growth desired. The church is situated in Kernville, CA, a small mountain community north of Lake Isabella. However, church attendance includes those who live across the Kern River Valley. The town is nestled near where the Kern River flows into Lake Isabella. As a result, Kernville offers world-class river rafting, trails to hike and bike, water sports and rock climbing, incredible campgrounds, and phenomenal fishing. Who We Are Seeking:
KBC is seeking a Senior Pastor to lead and guide our congregation into the next season of ministry. The following describes the type of pastor desired:
- Must have a strong personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and a passion to see the kingdom of God advance in his own life, the community, and throughout the world.
- Must meet the qualifications for an overseer specified in 1 Tim. 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-3.
- Must be ordained as a Southern Baptist minister.
- Must adhere fundamentally to the Baptist Faith and Message.
- Should be currently enrolled in or have completed seminary education.
- Should have at least 5 years of church ministry experience.
Job Description:
- Preach and teach the Word of God in an exegetical and systematic manner, with an emphasis on verse-by-verse exposition in a culturally appropriate and engaging style.
- Equip believers to use their gifting for work and to share the gospel in the community.
- Shepherd and counsel people through the various issues of life from a Scriptural worldview.
- Lead the people of the church in making disciples.
- Perform the ordinances of communion and baptism.
- Provide pastoral care by visiting the sick, elderly, and bereaved, and provide spiritual support for church members during various emergency situations.
