Pastor

Goal:
To find the man who is called by the Lord to be our long-term pastor. To make disciples. To proclaim the truth
of the Gospel. To encourage, teach and equip members from the Word of God. To grow the church to the glory
of God.

Preferences:
The successful applicant will be a Christian man who is answering God’s call to make disciples by fostering
spiritual growth and fellowship, reaching unbelievers for Christ, and engaging our community to these ends.
Applicants should be actively reading scripture, and growing in the knowledge of God’s Word.
Applicants must affirm Immanuel Baptist Church’s statement of faith (found on our website at
https://havreimmanuel.org/about/). Applicants do not have to be ordained but must be willing to pursue
ordination with the SBC. Higher education, or the lack of it, is not a significant factor in our evaluation of
applicants.

Responsibilities:
The Pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church would lead the Elders to develop a clear vision and intentional plan to
grow the church, disciple its membership and evangelize the community. In addition, the Lead Pastor will be responsible to:

• Preach the Sunday sermon
• Participate and/or lead at least one midweek Bible study or book study
• Provide at least four hours a week visitation and/or office hours
• Meet with the Elders at least once a month
• Attend church business meetings
• Officiate at weddings and funerals

Financial Provisions:
Immanuel Baptist Church will provide a housing allowance to the successful applicant. However, as church
membership is not numerous enough to pay a salary, the Pastor will need to secure supplemental income (e.g.
bi-vocational, retirement income, etc.).

Our Church and Community:
Immanuel Baptist Church is an Elder-led church located in Havre, Montana. Currently, Immanuel has 22
members with a dozen or so other attendees. Havre is a small rural community. The four main employers in
town are the university, hospital, rail road, and Border Patrol. Agriculture is the primary industry in the Hi-line
area surrounding Havre. Havre is 20 minutes from the Rocky Boy Reservation and two hours from Great Falls,
MT.
