Church Planter Resident

Overview:

The Church Planting Resident position is designed to holistically equip, evaluate, and send out qualified and pioneering missionary-pastors who are passionate about church planting and discipleship and who are preparing to serve as the lead pastor of a new church plant. The Church Planting Resident will gain hands-on experience, spiritual development, and practical training through a residency program focused on building a healthy and reproducing gospel-centered church.

Duration:

  • Development and Preparation (6-12 months): The initial phase includes rigorous training, mentorship, assessment, and preparation.
  • Church Planting Launch (Year 2): The Church Planting Resident will develop and execute a comprehensive church-planting plan and begin engaging the target community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in structured ministry training, mentoring, and leadership development.
  • Collaborate with church staff and residency mentors to create a comprehensive church-planting strategy.
  • Engage in community outreach and church-planting activities within the target area.
  • Prepare for and be assessed by the North American Mission Board/SEND Network.
  • Attend and contribute to HHBC’s services, ministries, and events, maintaining an active membership.
  • Exemplify a lifestyle in accordance with the gospel (Philippians 1:27) and promote disciple-making(Matthew 28:18-20).

Qualifications:

  • Motivated men who meet the biblical qualifications for eldership as outlined in the New Testament (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9).
  • Graduate-level theological training (MA, MDiv, or equivalent) and ministry leadership experience.
  • Proven communication and teaching skills, with a background in disciple-making.
  • Track record of visionary, entrepreneurial ministry work, ideally with experience in new ministry initiatives.
  • Demonstrates qualities of humility, teachability, and self-awareness.
  • Able to relocate to the Edmond area and committed to serving at HHBC.
