Website Heaston Church
Heaston Church in El Reno Oklahoma is looking for a full-time lead pastor. Heaston Church is a midsize, non-denominational, multigenerational church committed to loving, living, and leading others to Jesus Christ. Our diverse church body consists of people from multiple surrounding communities.
Our Community:
Our church is located in the middle of the lush wheat fields & cattle pastures of rural Oklahoma but is within 20 miles of five different towns – the largest and closest of which is El Reno.
El Reno, Oklahoma, is a diverse city of 19,216 people located in Canadian County, just 20 minutes west of Oklahoma City. Known for its rich history and small-town charm, El Reno offers a glimpse into the past with its historic downtown area and landmarks like Route 66 and Fort Reno, which dates back to the 1870s. The city is also famous for its annual Fried Onion Burger Day Festival, where thousands gather to enjoy delicious, giant onion burgers.
El Reno offers quality schools consisting of four elementary schools, one middle school, and a high school. In addition, there are four rural schools that are members of Oklahoma Rural Education System (ORES), grades PreK – 8th. El Reno is also home to Redlands Community College, and Canadian Valley Technology Center, with numerous other colleges within an easy commuting distance. The town has an abundance of activities ranging from outdoor options to community theater.
Our Church:
We long to see our surrounding communities, as well as the world, impacted by the gospel, so that lives are changed and impacted in all areas, including (but not limited to) marriages, parent-child relationships, work-relationships, and friendships.
We gather once a week with morning classes for all ages followed by a worship service. The music style is blended. We also have different discipleship activities and opportunities throughout the week such as youth group, small groups, and additional Bible studies.
We are a mission-minded Church with global partnerships in the Philippines, Uganda, Haiti, Jordan, Mexico and stateside. We also have active outreach to the Hispanic community and local community college.
We are elder-led and staff-managed. We have a long-standing relationship with Dallas Theological Seminary, but our staff – past and present – come from a variety of biblical training backgrounds.
This position recently became available when the previous lead pastor was asked to resign due to a change in his doctrinal position, as wells as changes to his leadership style related to the doctrinal position. This resulted in a church split in February of this year (2024). We have gone through a season of healing and have experienced God’s goodness. We are ready to move forward with His guidance in the search for our next lead pastor.
