The primary responsibility of the Pastor of Discipleship and Counseling is leading discipleship and biblical counseling ministries at Green Pond Bible Chapel, facilitating our purpose to glorify God by making and maturing disciples of Jesus.
Green Pond Bible Chapel defines biblical counseling as intensive discipleship, and views counseling as a function of shepherding care and discipleship within the church. The Pastor of Discipleship and Counseling should have a strong conviction that counseling is a function of the church’s mission to make and mature disciples of Jesus. We have been blessed by the various counseling organizations under the umbrella of the Biblical Counseling Coalition (BCC).
Education
The Pastor of Discipleship and Counseling should have a master’s degree or higher from an educational institution committed to the priority of God’s Word in counseling and should have a passion for biblical counseling.
Certification and Professional Associations
The Pastor of Discipleship and Counseling should be certified through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). He should also see the value of making use of helpful resources from the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation (CCEF) as well as the Association of Biblical Counselors (ABC).
