Job Description for Children’s Ministry Director

At Grace Baptist Church, we are “ordinary people being changed by Christ to change the world.” All of our ministries exist to support this mission, as we work together to equip and encourage our people to impact the world in our community with the hope of the gospel.

The Children’s Ministry Director is the primary supervisor for teaching, nurturing, and organizing the spiritual growth of kids, age nursery through 6th grade. Providing support to children and their families is a crucial part of this role, including listening to children’s concerns, praying with them, and guiding them on their spiritual path. This includes mentoring parents and collaborating with them in their children’s spiritual development.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and model the vision of Grace Baptist Church: “We are ordinary people being changed by Christ to change the world.”
  • Provide age-appropriate opportunities for children to learn about and engage with God, using a curriculum that you have either selected or written.
  • Recruit, train, and continually develop volunteers for various ministry roles.
  • Oversee the children’s teaching team to ensure a quality Biblical and engaging experience for the children.
  • Develop a plan to increase parent participation in the children’s ministry.
  • Organize events to involve children in both the church and the Gardner community.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents or guardians to update them on future events, curriculum details, and their children’s participation in the ministry.
  • Manage the budget and resources designated for the children’s ministry.

Qualifications:

  • A strong personal relationship with Jesus and the ability to communicate the gospel.
  • Current and active participation in a local church.
  • Recent history of serving in children’s ministry and leading in some capacity.
  • A solid understanding of biblical teachings and ministry principles.
  • Excellent leadership and collaborative skills.
  • The capability to recruit, inspire, and energize volunteers.
  • Proficient administrative abilities.
  • The skill to organize and execute captivating and imaginative events and activities.
  • The ability to handle unforeseen situations as they occur.
  • Effective communication abilities with children and their parents or guardians.
  • Can provide a list of ministry references from current or past churches (if requested).
