Associate Pastor for College Ministry and Biblical Counseling

At Flagstaff Christian Fellowship (FCF) we aim to build a community of joyful believers in Jesus Christ who love God and His Word, love one another, and love those without Christ by bringing them the good news of salvation.

FCF is currently seeking candidates for the position of Associate Pastor. This position will work alongside the Senior Pastor and Elders for the equipping of the saints of FCF for the work of ministry, especially through overseeing College Ministry, providing Biblical counseling, training members in Biblical counseling, teaching in various capacities, occasionally preaching from the pulpit, and oversight of various ministry leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a pastor-elder for the unity of the whole church with a unique focus on evangelizing and discipling college age students into faithful, healthy church members.
  • Provide biblical counseling for the whole church with an emphasis on training others in biblical counseling (ACBC; CCEF).
  • Oversight of various ministries including young adults, adult Sunday school, home fellowships, evangelism and regular contact with those leading these ministries.
  • Additional teaching opportunities include Adult Sunday School and occasional pulpit supply.
  • Regular contact with the Senior Pastor. Serve on the Elder Board. Participate in Staff Meetings.
  • Visitation and discipleship as assigned or needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned or needed.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Has experienced genuine conversion to Christ, aspires to vocational pastoral ministry, and is devoted to the Word and prayer.
  • A hospitable man of character and godliness growing through the gospel in such areas as repentance, humility, reasonableness, and the fruit of the spirit.
  • A man tested and affirmed in the biblical qualifications of a Pastor-Elder.
  • Gospel-motivated team player who self-starts while working in conjunction with the Senior Pastor and Elders.
  • A relationally warm people-person who gravitates to one-on-one and small group ministry; can disciple and equip volunteers; can oversee and administrate various ministries; is able to teach; and has a heart for counseling, especially in difficult cases.
  • Is fully committed to becoming a covenant-member of FCF and affirms FCF’s doctrinal statement, constitution, and by-laws.
  • A relational and compatible fit with the Senior Pastor and Elders.
  • A life-long learner.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Has faithful and fruitful ministry experience.
  • Embraces and aligns with the ministry of “9Marks.”
  • Is seminary trained, especially in biblical counseling (ACBC; CCEF), and/or willing to pursue additional training.
  • Willing, by God’s grace, to commit to this ministry long term (five years minimum preferred).
