Minister to Students and Families

Summary of the Position: Full Time position reporting to the Lead Pastor –The Minister to Students and Families is a man responsible for comprehensive ministry to teenagers (6th to 12th grade) and for equipping parents to lead Christ-Centered homes. In addition, this position participates in functional ministry areas in the accomplishment of the church’s mission including all student and family ministries, discipleship, church-wide outreach efforts, relationship development with families including both parents and students, and leadership development and training for adult volunteers.
Personal and Professional:
- Strong Christian character and work ethic (demonstrate and poses the qualifications for pastoral ministry found in Titus 1 and 1 Timothy 3)
- Maintain a vibrant faith and love relationship with Christ through personal Bible study, prayer, evangelism, service, and other spiritual disciplines
- Lead by example in proclaiming the Gospel of Christ in our community and making disciples who make disciples to the ends of the earth
- Continue as an active part of our church-wide FBC family while also honoring the God-given priority of valuing your immediate family.
Education and Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience student ministry and/or management of student programs
- Four-year college degree
- Some seminary and/or Bible training preferred
Primary Objectives:
- Desire to work in student ministry as a way to serve God and advance His kingdom
- Point students (6th to 12th grade) to Jesus as Savior in age-appropriate ways and equip parents and leaders to do the same
- Value and Promote “Milestones” family ministry as we equip parents to be the primary spiritual leaders in their homes and celebrate specific milestones
- Balance discipleship and outreach programs for both student only and family included settings.
- Engage opportunities to serve and be present in the local schools
- Manage Student Ministry calendar and budget
- Communicate regularly and engage students and families inside and outside of church
- Recruit and train new Student Ministry Volunteers
- Oversee Sunday student small group curriculum and weekly student worship gatherings
- Schedule and lead a regular meeting with student ministry leaders
- Plan and support student ministry special events (Summer Camps, Family Life Weekend Conf., Outreach Events, community events with other churches), including marketing efforts–website, social media, print materials, etc.
- Serve as the “point person” for the Student Ministry and advocate for student ministry activities communicated throughout the church family
