Director of Children’s Ministry (or Children’s Pastor)

The purpose of the Children’s Ministry of First Baptist Church is to train, encourage, and connect with children as they grow in maturity in their Christian faith.

The primary responsibility of the Director of Children’s Ministry (or Children’s Pastor) is the planning, directing, and coordinating of the Children’s Ministry of the Church with input from the Children’s Ministry Planning Team and the Lead Pastor.

The Director of Children’s ministry (or Children’s Pastor) will cast vision and lead the children’s ministry (ages birth through sixth grade) of the Church. They will develop, equip and mobilize teams of adults that are responsible for serving in the various areas of children’s ministry. In addition, they will develop and execute a plan to communicate with and equip parents to be the primary disciple makers in the lives of their children.

This position is part-time with an expectation that the Director (or Pastor) would work on average fifteen hours per week during the school year with the possibility of additional hours during the summer. It is feasible to complete some tasks related to the position while away from the F.B.C. campus. It would be expected that the Director (or Pastor) would be on campus every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening (during the school year) and for the children’s events planned by the Director and the Children’s Ministry Team. In addition, the Children’s Ministry Director (or Children’s Pastor) would be expected to attend regular staff meetings, deacons’ meetings, Church Council meetings (quarterly), Church Conference meetings (quarterly).

Children’s activities currently include: Sunday School, Awana Clubs (Wednesday evenings from September through April), Children’s Church, Vacation Bible School, Kids’ Camp, and special activities (with something planned approximately every six weeks).
