TITLE: Serve Coordinator
REPORTING: to Serve Pastor / Serve Department / Ministry Staff designation
OVERVIEW: The Serve Coordinator will seek to reach all of Jacksonville with all of Jesus for all of life by assisting the Serve Pastor “turn strangers into servants” by undertaking projects, administrating for the department, managing systems, and overseeing utilization of resources relating to church management software (ChMS), assimilation and movement of church guests and members through hospitality ministries, spiritual growth pipelines, and community-level outreach and serving initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General
- Work closely with the Serve Pastor for brainstorming, process design, procedure mapping, assimilation and people management pipelines, database management, and outreach and serving initiative planning.
- Assist Serve Pastor through handling emails, calendaring, phone call screening, meeting participation and scheduling, and other office-based tasks.
- Complete special assignments and projects as directed by the Serve Pastor.
- Church Management Software
- Establish and maintain organized filing and data entry of electronic records, documentation, procedures, and reports in ChMS.
- Work with and train staff for rollout of new features and tools in ChMS.
- Assimilation
- Coordinate various Hospitality ministry initiatives relating to guest experience.
- Assist in moving church members and guests through assimilation pipelines such as Next Steps.
- Organize and coordinate logistics for membership and baptism pathways and events.
- Recruit and manage volunteers for various ministry needs throughout church.
- Support church-wide events through coordination and volunteer management.
- Outreach
- Coordinate large-scale Serve projects and events both in the church and in the community.
- Foster and maintain relationships with Ministry Partnerships and other kingdom-focused organizations and individuals outside of the immediate church body.
- Organize and participate in training church members for community-level serving and evangelism within the city of Jacksonville.
- Must actively pursue ACBC certification and complete certification in time period to be set by Associate Pastor

- Demonstrate a credible profession and experience of faith in Christ.
- Affirm without reservation the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).
- Passionate about the mission and vision of First Baptist Church Jacksonville.
- Teachable spirit and willingness to follow the ministry vision set forth by leadership.
- Passion for serving the church through administration, assimilation, hospitality, and evangelism.
- Committed to the sufficiency of scripture and biblical counseling.
- Humbly receive correction and pursue biblical restoration in all relationships.
- Maintain high level of confidentiality and ability to handle sensitive information.
- Life and character qualified for Christian ministry.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrates extreme ownership of responsibilities and ministry areas
- Exceedingly organized with a high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to coordinate large-scale events under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop rapport with staff, and a servant’s heart.
- Possess organizational, logistical, and event coordination skills.
- Shows a history of the ability to self-start and follow-through on projects.
- Ability to work independently or with a team as needed.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently, often under time constraints.
- Ability to set priorities and delegate, while working collaboratively with and providing support for ministry departments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; able to consolidate and present information in a format that enables others to utilize tools and easily follow procedures.
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Competency in productivity software: email, calendar, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, etc.
- Familiarity with church record administration, structure, and management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; preferably a Bachelor’s degree in STEM field, organizational management, church ministry, or education.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
