Pastor of Family & Students
The Family & Student Pastor is responsible to the Lead Pastor (or the Board of Elders Personnel Sub-Committee in the absence of the Lead Pastor) for the development and promotion of the family and student ministry (Grades 7 – 12, and college). The role of the Family/Student Pastor is to equip and serve the families and students of First Baptist Church of Neosho to Love God, Connect with People and Change the world.
Family Ministry:
- Work with Pastoral Staff to create and foster discipleship enrichment initiatives that focus on the needs of young adults, young marrieds, and families
- Provide Biblical counseling to married couples, parents and students as opportunities arise
Student Ministry:
- Recruit and equip a team of volunteers to execute student ministry
- Provide training and leadership development to older students
- Plan and execute a calendar of events that promote growth and community for students
- Research and recommend curriculum for all student ministries
- Create strategies to transition 6th graders and high school seniors into and out of student ministry.
- Maintain a community presence for students and families
- Oversee the budget for Student Ministries
Team Roles:
- Participate with the staff in praying, planning and promoting the entire ministry of the church
- Participate with the staff in pastoral and prospect outreach
Other Duties:
- Serve ex-officio on the Board of Elders and on one subcommittee.
- The Family/Student Pastor will ensure a smooth transition of students into college ministry and will serve as a liaison to our college ministry
Qualifications:
- A born-again believer
- Affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as their statement of faith
- A clear calling to ministry
- Become a member of First Baptist Church, Neosho
- Spiritually mature, growing in personal study, prayer, and discipleship
- A pastoral heart and burden for the people and ministries of the local church
- Gifts and talents in the areas of student ministry, leadership and administration
- Interpersonal skills in relating to a variety of persons and personalities
- Humble, teachable, and team oriented
- Supports the life of the church in its mission and purpose to Love God, Connect with People, and Change the World
