FBC Cherokee, Cherokee, OK, is seeking a full-time Student Pastor.
Position is full time, competitive pay for Oklahoma youth ministers, a parsonage is provided, and we have our own youth building used for ministering to students.
OUR CHURCH:
Our church recently underwent a massive renovation, awesome media upgrades, and brand-new offices for staff. We are growing in our attendance and participation among members/regular attenders and enjoy lots of excitement throughout the church! We have the potential for a youth group average attendance of 60-90 students simply if they are reached out to! We have 90-100 kids in our kids ministry regularly, most of which who promote right up into youth year after year.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Pastor of Students is responsible for ministry to 6th-12th grade students, leading them to Love God, teaching them to Connect with People, molding them in Serving Others and engaging them in Growing the Kingdom.
Staff Responsibilities
- Be a leader of leaders. Recruit, train, lead, and shepherd volunteers as they do ministry. + Encourage the spiritual growth of your team of volunteers.
- Reach out to and encourage volunteers who have “fallen off the radar.”
- Live out FBC’s Vision and Values.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings, general church ministries/outreaches & worship services. + Participate in any other meetings appropriate to the role.
- Work alongside and within the guidelines of pastoral leadership.
Role-Specific Responsibilities
- Love God
- Carry out regular Wednesday and Sunday night student ministries, as well as disciple students in the Christian life. [VISION VALUES 1 & 2]
- Maintain and abide by Safety Guidelines in FBC’s Ministry Safe Plan. [VISION VALUE 3]
- Coordinate and partner with families when their student is moving towards following Jesus and baptism.
- Connect People
- Develop a personal relationship with all youth and their parents associated with the church, seeking the same with parents not associated with the church, as is appropriate and possible. [VISION VALUE 4]
- Carry out Student Small Group ministry on Sunday mornings as a part of FBC’s overall Small Group Ministry. [VISION VALUE 5]
- Maintain multiple and relevant communication channels with students and parents, as well as leaders in youth ministry. [VISION VALUE 6]
- Coordinate student ministry events in conjunction with the church calendar, maintaining an active and realistic schedule relevant to ministering to students.
- Serve Others
- Engage and lead students in local, missional outreach and national/international mission trips as are available, realistic, and serve the overall Student Ministry Plan.
[VISION VALUE 7] - Take part in school and extra-curricular functions where members of the student ministry are participating (i.e. sports events, OneAct events, livestock shows, etc.) [VISION VALUE 8]
- Maintain an active outreach ministry to lost and unengaged students. [VISION VALUE 9]
- Engage and lead students in local, missional outreach and national/international mission trips as are available, realistic, and serve the overall Student Ministry Plan.
- Grow the Kingdom
- Encourage regular involvement of students in church ministry, as is appropriate to student maturity and discipleship. [VISION VALUE 10]
- Involve volunteer leaders in ministry development via planning meetings, receiving feedback from Student Ministry Committee, meeting at least quarterly. [VISION VALUE 10]
- Lead and work with the volunteers/committee to develop and supervise a budget plan for student activities, as is appropriate and realistic. [VISION VALUE 12]
- Engage outgoing seniors in “Next Steps” of college (connect w/ BCM’s) or to whatever is applicable to students’ lives, as well as in connectedness to the church after youth group and beyond.
