PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Executive Minister assists the Lead Pastor in leading the staff, overseeing the church’s operations, and developing the congregation in stewardship and generosity. This role requires a passion for both leadership development (individual growth), team building (helping the staff team thrive) and practical stewardship (running stuff well and getting stuff done). The right leader will possess a pastoral heart and instinct, a passion for gospel ministry, and proven skill in organizational leadership and management.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Continue to grow in the gospel as a member of Grace Church of Ovilla
- Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings and Sunday planning meetings
- Attend and serve at Grace Church of Ovilla functions, as requested by elders
- Participate in the creative planning of special events with the Staff Team
- Participate and relationally engage in the life and ministry of Grace Church of Ovilla on Sundays and throughout the week
EXECUTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help to shape the church and staff culture through healthy presence and effective communication that advances the church’s mission (making disciples) under the elders’ guidance
- Participate in conversations with the elders regarding overall staffing and ministry strategies
- Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings
- Participate in weekly Sunday planning meetings
- Consult, assist, and troubleshoot with other staff regarding their ministries. As needed, proactively speak into potential weak spots or areas of potential improvement in order to ensure alignment, effectiveness, and strategic development.
- Report to the elders at Elder Council meetings, as requested
- Team Building: Provide leadership and development to:
- Staff (all non-elder staff) – assist the Lead Pastor in overseeing meetings
- Deacons – work closely with the deacons and chairman of the deacons in a collaborative, dotted-line relationship
- Servant Team Leaders (STL) – oversee meetings
- Operations of the Church:
- HR: assist the elders in overseeing payroll, benefits, policies and procedures
- Facility: ensure Operations Director effectively manages leases, operations, equipment, maintenance, and capital improvements
- Communication: oversee church-wide communication (CCB, email, social media, website, etc.); liaise with Operations Director and GCO editor (in a nutshell: ensure the “business of the church” is executed well in order to facilitate and support the ministry of the church)
- Finances: Exercise biblical stewardship.
- Oversee the annual budgeting process, under the elders’ supervision
- Meet with the Bookkeeper and Operations Director monthly to review expenses and evaluate spending
- Meet with (FAT) Team periodically (e.g., two or three times annually) to review financial results against the budget;
- Oversee Operations Director’s management of vendors, insurance and other external contracts, etc.
- Under the direction of the elders, create, lead and implement special projects such as fundraising, church planting campaigns, etc., as requested.
- Oversee the annual budgeting process, under the elders’ supervision
- Annual Planning
- Assist the Lead Pastor in planning the elders’ annual vision meeting
- Help disseminate and affirm the elders’ vision and goals to staff, deacons, and STL’s
- Facilitate the annual Staff/STL planning and calendaring meeting
- Prepare the yearly calendar
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Working with the Lead Pastor, keep Grace Church of Ovilla staffed well with high-capacity individuals, in roles where they “fit,” flourishing as disciples and as leaders/employees
- Ensuring the church as an organization is well-managed, freeing the elders to focus more on ministry to people than on organizational problems
- Making sure the elders have timely, accurate information about operations and finances so they can make effective decisions
- Ensuring the various systems and structures of Grace Church of Ovilla are working well, being consistently renewed for optimal effectiveness
- Making sure the church property is being well-utilized and well-maintained
- Ensuring Grace Church of Ovilla budgets well and anticipates future expenses
EXPECTATIONS & COMPENSATION
- Hours: 40-50 per week
- Salary: Commensurate with experience level (including medical benefit) to be determined based on experience.
- Retirement matching of 3% of annual salary
- 31 days paid time off annually
- 10 Holidays (New Year’s Eve, New Years Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (2 days), Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
