Evening Custodial Technician – PT

JOB PURPOSE

We take great pride in the appearance of our facilities and campus and see it as a reflection of our commitment to our community and our students. It is important for a custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, and tidying of the premises, with an eye for detail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This job requires knowledge of custodial practices, equipment, supplies and procedures; the ability to perform quality work in a safe manner; and strong communication skills to interact with other people on campus. Must have a keen eye for detail, organized and able to follow directions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Adhere to established procedures to provide a safe working environment including complying with OSHA, state/local, federal and company regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Properly clean and maintain multiple areas as assigned.
    • Clean and sanitize restrooms and break-rooms following established protocol.
    • Restock soap and paper dispensers in restrooms and break areas.
    • Vacuum carpet, spot clean, shampoo and extract on an assigned basis.
    • Clean interior and exterior windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
    • Maintain hard surface floors by mopping, stripping, and waxing.
    • Operate floor scrubbers and other custodial equipment
    • Empty/clean wastebaskets, trash containers in restrooms, office, and warehouse areas.
  • Follow procedures for storage and disposal of trash and transport it to designated area.
  • Maintain exterior break areas and grounds by emptying waste containers and picking up trash
  • Report maintenance concerns to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Care for warehouse floors by sweeping and operating sweepers and floor scrubbers as needed
  • Help set up, and arrange furniture and equipment to prepare facilities for events
  • Complete custodial work orders as assigned
  • Stock custodial closets as needed
  • Record supply inventory as directed and inform management when cleaning supplies are low
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during work
  • Perform direct special cleaning projects as assigned by the supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Christian with high integrity, actively pursuing a relationship with God
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass background screening, including driving record
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Able to communicate with others in a professional and personable manner
  • Must be reliable and ethical
  • Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions
  • Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals, and the disposal of each
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Monday thru Friday
  • Evening Shift
  • No more than 29 hours per week

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to bend at waist, sit, kneel, climb, walk, crouch/squat, perform a repetitive motion as required or for extended period.
  • Able to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally,  25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
  • Able to push / pull / lift to 50 lbs.
  • Able to climb ladder, stand on scaffolding
  • Able to work with solvents and/or cleaning fluids
