Delaware Christian School is a ministry of Delaware Bible Church. The School Biblical Counselor is responsible for assisting students, parents and teachers with a biblical worldview through difficult challenges within the everyday classroom and educational environment.
Qualifications:
Biblical Position Requirements:
- Proclaim and maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ
- Be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
- Be a member of a local church with like faith of Delaware Bible Church
- Faithfully uphold DCS in prayer
- Demonstrate behavior aligned with DCS’s mission, vision, core values and handbooks
- Model consistent personal change and growth in one’s own spiritual walk with the Lord
Skill Position Requirements:

Education Positions Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, preferably Biblical Counseling
- Working towards or having a Masters Degree in Biblical Counseling
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in biblical counseling
- Certified with Association of Certified Biblical Counselors
Responsibilities:
- To counsel students in relational or situational difficulties with biblical insight and encouragement as well as offering potential support to the student’s family.
- To assist teachers in addressing classroom concerns, student disputes, and domestic matters.
- To provide regular training workshops for staff and the student body on issues that currently or potentially impact students and teachers in our society.
- To develop a plan of practical care for comforting and consoling the student body through a potential major crisis in the school (e.g. unexpected death, natural disaster).
- To recommend biblical resources and approved ministries for additional assistance in individual and family struggles.
- To meet weekly with the Pastor of Counseling at Delaware Bible Church to share concerns, receive feedback, and invite accountability.
- To practice confidentiality in all matters except when a crime is committed, potential or actual harm exists, additional insight from DBC pastoral staff is necessary, or the attender’s church must be informed (if student does not attend DBC).
