Job Summary:
To assist the Women & Family Center Administrator in providing leadership and oversight of the WFC and its program, staff, guests, and program participants by providing a safe and healthy living environment and evidenced-based discipleship recovery program.
Duties/Responsibilities:
● Function as a positive contributing staff member of City Union Mission by engaging in timely communication, active participation in meetings, strategic planning, data management, supplying accurate reports, and problem solving to ensure unity with the purpose and goals of the Mission.
● Lead and encourage staff in order to fulfill their calling and job description, and provide effective guidance in conflict resolution, mediation, instruction and training, and performance evaluations.
● Assist the Administrator in the oversight of the daily operations of the Center including enforcing policies, managing accurate records, supervising staff, providing appropriate discipline for policy violations, being available in emergency and crisis situations, and planning special events and activities.
● Work with the Administrator to supervise and manage Center staff (case managers, guest coordinators, and hotline guest coordinators) by daily supervision, scheduling weekly work schedules, training and shift report oversight.
● Instruct and supervise participants in adherence to program policies and requirements, provide informed support for program exits, lead effective conflict resolution and crisis interventions, and coordinator appropriate aftercare and follow-up.
● Be willing to teach classes and fill in during staff absences or vacations and training.
● Seek to exemplify Jesus Christ daily and be prepared to share the Gospel as opportunities arise.
● Perform other duties as required.
City Union Mission Requirements:
● Be a born again, mature Christian able to clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities arise during the workday. (1 Peter 2:21, 3:15)
● Have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities to advance ministry to the homeless and the urban poor of Kansas City, with a compassionate heart.
● Agree to City Union Mission’s Statement of Ministry and Statement of Faith:
o Be a genuine believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, as expressed by personal testimony and conduct.
o Be a member in good standing of a recognized protestant, evangelical church for one year or more.
o Have a genuine concern for the ministry of City Union Mission.
o Have a minimum of one year of sobriety from alcohol and drugs and six months from tobacco.
o Agree to abstain from alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, and tobacco while employed by City Union Mission.
o Have a lifestyle that is free of sexual sin as clearly defined in the Bible.
Required Skills/Abilities:
● Demonstrated experience exhibiting good judgment, sensitivity, neatness, accuracy and dependability.
● Must be able to communicate effectively, and be able to work in a fast paced, emotional environment.
● Demonstrate computer literacy in Google and Microsoft applications.
Education and Experience:
● Required: Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services or related field with 2 years of leadership experience.
● Preferred: Missouri Recovery Support Specialist or Certified Peer Support Specialist training and/or 1 year experience with addiction recovery and homeless populations.
Physical Requirements:
● Prolonged periods of sitting/standing/kneeling, etc.
● Ability to ascend/descend stairs multiple times throughout the shift.
● Must be able to lift 40 pounds at times.
● Must be able to operate motor vehicles, such as 15-passenger vans.
Travel Requirements:
● Ability to drive to our campuses in Kansas City and in Warsaw or to local service agencies.
