Principal Function: Coordinating and promoting church programs and encouraging the spiritual growth of youth and young families.
Job Classification: This position is an exempt (salaried) and full-time (40 hours a week) position.
Responsibilities:
- Be a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and show evidence of same.
- Organize and coordinate a balanced approach to ministry that includes Bible study, discipleship, outreach/evangelism, recreation, fellowship, missions, etc.
- Work with the Youth Ministry Team to develop and implement a balanced ministry program.
- Develop and implement young family-oriented programs and events aimed at strengthening family relationships, spiritual growth, and community involvement.
- Coordinate activities such as family retreats, parenting workshops, marriage enrichment seminars, etc.
- Work closely with the pastor and staff to align youth and young family ministry goals with the overall mission and vision of the church.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and collaboration among volunteers and staff involved in ministry activities.
- Develop positive relationships with youth and young families.
- Provide Christian guidance and pastoral care to meet the special needs of youth and young families.
- Incorporate youth and young families into the overall ministry of the church.
- Keep up to date on the latest educational methods and share them with lay workers.
- Prepare and administer the youth and young family ministry budgets.
- On occasion be available nights and weekends for special events for youth and young families as and to work with the pastor in making emergency pastoral care visits as needed.
- Visit and/or contact prospects and members related to your sphere of ministry.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Comply with all established church policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal and state laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The position of Youth and Young Families Minister requires:
- A high school diploma.
- A college degree.
- A seminary degree (or working toward).
- A clear calling to ministry and an evident love for youth and young families.
- Doctrine aligned with the Baptist Faith and Message.
- Experience working on a church staff or other ministry related position.
- Exceptional speaking skills and the ability to speak confidently before groups.
- Quality leadership and administrative skills.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with social media.
- Commitment to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
- Requires passing criminal, financial and sexual misconduct background checks.
