About:
The Crown Point Campus Pastor is responsible to lead efforts that provide pastoral care, connections ministry, small group discipleship, and leadership development at Bethel’s Crown Point location. This role works in close collaboration with the Senior Pastor and will be among the most visible leaders at the Crown Point Campus.
Bethel is a growing, nondenominational, evangelical church that is striving to exalt Christ through expository preaching, God-saturated worship, loving community, and gospel outreach. Primary Goals:
- Pastoral Leadership & Care: Ensure that the connection and pastoral needs at the Crown Point Campus are met in a gracious, compassionate, hospitable, and life-giving way.
- Small Group Discipleship: Provide leadership to the Crown Point Small Group Ministry so these groups produce dynamic, spiritually transformative discipleship amongst group members.
- Leadership Development: Develop and maintain a leadership pipeline that recruits, trains, and matures spiritually vibrant leaders for Bethel Church.
Responsibilities:
- Congregational Care
- Oversee pastoral care efforts at the campus, including hospital visits and funerals.
- Demonstrate compassion by personally providing care and spiritual help to those in need.
- Lead prayer ministry efforts at the Crown Point Campus.
- Coordinate the annual church-wide Week of Prayer.
- Connections Ministry
- Actively pursue relational connections with attendees at the Crown Point Campus. Constantly strive to identify unconnected people and interact with newcomers.
- Help newcomers feel personally connected to Bethel’s leadership and vision.
- Guide attendees to take their next step to connect with the Crown Point congregation (membership, small groups, Bible studies, serving, mentoring, missions etc.).
- Participate in all connection-purposed events and assist in their planning and execution. This includes Guest Receptions, Discover Bethel classes, Newcomer Lunches, etc.
- Promote volunteer opportunities at Bethel Church. Help individuals find a place of ministry service that is appropriate for their gifting.
- Constantly model personal friendliness and hospitality. Fully embrace the lifestyle of relational ministry that this role requires.
- Weekend Services Leadership & Teaching/Preaching
- Serve as a primary host for Crown Point weekend worship services, including pastoral leadership roles on the platform (prayer, communion, announcements, etc.).
- Make intentional connections in the foyer and at all church gatherings.
- Preach at the Crown Point Campus periodically.
- Serve as one of the key teachers for membership classes and other adult education offerings.
- Teach/preach in various ministry settings at the Crown Point Campus and other church locations (as needed).
- Small Group Ministry Leadership
- Cast vision for small groups to pursue spiritual growth within their group members and also growth through local outreach. Provide groups with practical helps to pursue both priorities.
- Identify, recruit, train, and install new small group leaders.
- Develop training materials for leaders and continually provide helpful resources.
- Ensure that small groups receive adequate promotion and prominence at the Crown Point Campus.
- Provide efficient and effective pathways for church attendees to connect with small groups. Work with the connections team to provide timely follow-up when connecting people with Bethel small groups.
- Track important statistics pertaining to Bethel’s Small Group Ministry. Utilize these statistics to help evaluate ministry effectiveness.
- Leadership Development
- Create systems and programs to recruit and disciple emerging lay leaders within Bethel Church (i.e., The Lead Collective).
- Provide pathways for emerging leaders to serve within existing ministries (small group leaders, student ministry leaders, etc.).
- Coordinate the recruitment, examination, and installation of new Elders and Deacons.
- General Pastoral Duties
- Uphold the ministry in prayer. Lead others to pray regularly for the needs of the Crown Point congregation.
- Participate in all required activities for Bethel Church staff, such as Sunday services (including major holidays), staff meetings, prayer meetings, special events, continuing education events, training opportunities, etc.
- Oversee the budgets and fiscal management of responsible ministries.
- Other responsibilities may be added as new needs arise and personal gifting develops.
Reporting Structure:
The Crown Point Campus Pastor is a full-time position that is considered ministry staff of Bethel Church. This position has a direct reporting relationship to the Executive Pastor of Ministry Development.
Qualifications:
- A stable, mature, and growing Christian with an exemplary personal, marital, and family life (if applicable) who meets the qualities of elder as prescribed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
- At least 3 years of experience on a church staff with proven ministry growth (ideally a multi-campus ministry).
- Adequate biblical education (preferably at the seminary level) with a sound knowledge of Scripture and an earnest desire to learn and grow.
- A heart for gospel-focused ministry that disciples individuals toward spiritual maturity.
- Proven fruitfulness as a teacher and preacher.
- Excellent strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Relational, outgoing, and good with people.
- Skilled at developing and refining ministry systems.
- Ability to manage and equip teams of people.
- Self-motivated and able to lead tasks or projects to completion.
- Competent at multitasking, time management, and prioritizing.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
- Committed to teamwork with the leadership, staff, and congregation of Bethel Church.
- Affirms the doctrinal position of Bethel Church.
