Job Description – Associate Pastor of Discipleship
General Description
The Associate Pastor of Discipleship will work directly with the Pastor of Discipleship to facilitate the organization, administration, care, and oversight of the various discipleship ministries of Emmaus Church. This includes Missional Community Groups, Bible Studies, Re|engage Marriage Ministry, Institute Offerings, Men’s Ministry Events, Church Prayer Meetings, and more.
Position Purpose
The purpose of this position shall be to facilitate the spiritual growth and discipleship of the members of Emmaus Church by supporting and expanding the discipleship ministries alongside the Pastor of Discipleship.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Steward administrative systems for discipleship environments including registrations, attendance tracking, engagement and participation reports, etc.
- Identify disengaged church members and lead them toward discipleship environments
- Teach and preach as needed within discipleship environments (Bible Studies, Classes, etc)
- Assist with the recruitment, training, development, and care of leaders for discipleship ministries
- Assist with writing Bible Study curriculum, articles, blogs, and other discipleship materials
- Maintain records for all discipleship ministries within Church Community Builder
- Build relationships with church members and facilitate their spiritual development
- Provide wise pastoral counsel to church members as needed
- Coordinate with staff for facilities setup/teardown for discipleship environments
- Fulfill other duties as assigned for ministry needs
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience in discipleship ministry leadership in a local church context
- Experience recruiting, training, and overseeing leaders in a ministry environment
- Ordained for gospel ministry and continuing to demonstrate qualifications of an elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4)
- Complete alignment with our statement of faith, doctrine, mission, and core values
- Complete alignment with the Acts 29 Statement of Faith
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters of Divinity at an accredited theological seminary (or at least two years progress)
- Proficiency in administrative tasks, systems thinking, and project management
- Experience with church management software (Church Community Builder preferred)
- Experience in audio/video editing, graphic design, and webpage management.
