The Senior Pastor of Angel Fire Baptist Church will join with the other elders to shepherd, oversee, teach and guard Angel Fire Baptist Church as an under-shepherd of Jesus Christ. He will give of his time and energy to proclaim Christ, preach the word, and make and mature disciples. His qualifications in terms of character are the same as those of the other elders and are detailed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. He will strive to be exemplary in these areas.
A distinctive role of the Senior Pastor from the other elders is the primary responsibility and devotion to the ministry of the word, especially in the preaching of the word consistent with the example of the Apostles in Acts 6:4 and the words of Paul to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:1-4:5, especially 4:2. AFBC expects the Senior Pastor to devote a significant amount of his time to the study of God’s word and the preparation of sermons and teaching.
Other areas specifically under the leadership of the Senior Pastor include: all details related to regular worship, supervision of any office and ministry staff, lead in the shepherding of church members, provide counseling to members and community, lead in cooperation with Southern Baptist associational, state and denominational leaders and organizations, set an example for evangelism and discipleship and organize training for each, oversee the administration of the church (including office, audio visual, social media)
The Senior Pastor will share with the other elders the following responsibilities: teaching and education, general oversight to small groups, moderate church business meetings, missions, finances, developing and maintaining the vision of AFBC, implementation of church discipline giving general oversight to Angel’s Attic.
