JOB PURPOSE
To assist the academic advising team in its efforts to encourage the retention and persistence of students through their respective degree programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage the advising events and communication plan calendars
- Send and manage responses to mass communications (Emails and Texts) related to student advising
- Assist in the execution of advising events on campus and online
- Use Campus Connections to manage student data, case information, and communication records
- Create and maintain monthly student contact reports for the Director of Advising and Student Success
- Manage outgoing mail by printing labels, packing envelopes, etc.
- Be familiar with all the areas of the Spurgeon College/MBTS website that provide important student information
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
MUST BE CURRENT STUDENT OF MBTS OR SPURGEON COLLEGE, AND
MUST QUALIFY FOR THE FEDERAL WORK STUDY PROGRAM VIA FAFSA
Qualification and requirements include but not limited to:
- Christian with high integrity, currently pursuing a relationship with God
- High School Diploma Required (Some college experience preferred)
- Basic understanding of the Spurgeon College and MBTS educational experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Able to show courtesy and wisdom in dealing with student issues
- Skilled in computer technologies, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Able to multi-task, analyze workload, and prioritize as necessary for the benefit of the department
- Able to take the initiative to complete the duties of the position without the need of direct supervision.
- Able to learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency.
- Must be able to work independently, as well as a part of a team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must show a desire and willingness to learn
- Must possess a positive attitude
- Able to pass background screening, including driving record
- Eligible to work in the United States
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Normal business hours (M-F)
- Not to exceed 20 hours per week
- Shared office environment
PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequently required to sit or stand for periods of time at desk or computer station
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Able lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently required to spend extended time on the phone
