Library Renovation Updates
The MBTS Library is excited about our renovated space opening in August! We cannot wait to show you our new research and study space at the start of the fall semester!
We are beginning the process of moving back into our renewed space. Because of the intensive nature of this process, access of the Library’s physical assets will be closed as of July 1, 2020, and remain closed until we open in our incredible new facility at the start of the new semester in August. Unfortunately, this means we will not be able to fill any requests for our physical holdings or for inter-library loan requests.
Of course, library digital repositories, databases, and other online resources will continue to be available with no interruption in service. We are looking forward to providing the best possible service this fall in the newly updated space!
The Midwestern Library’s off-site collection is now available for students and faculty. Books from this collection must be requested through the Joshua Discovery Search or the Classic Catalog. To request a book simply click on the ‘Request’ button to send your request.

Classic Catalog
Library staff will then take your request and retrieve the book(s) you requested and place it on the holdshelf with your name. As this collection is off campus, please allow a minimum of 48 hours for requests to be retrieved. You will be notified by email when it is available to pick-up from the library and you will have 10 days to pick up the book(s). If you have any questions, please email [email protected]
As a reminder, the temporary location of the Library, during the time of renovation, is the Koehn-Myers Center (KMC) on the north side of campus. The KMC can be accessed from Koehn-Myers Drive, just across from the music building. The temporary location occupies the former Vines Café, the Fireside Room, and the Downing Room, all located on the ground floor. The entrance to the temporary Library is through the former Vines Café.
The temporary Library now contains the most commonly used materials from its total collection. This selection includes commentaries, reference books, frequent checkouts, and curated titles. Library staff are available to help you locate resources.
There are a few study spaces provided in the temporary Library. A limited number of doctoral carrel spaces are also available for reservation. Similar to the previous doctoral carrels, each reserved space will be subject to being shared between two doctoral students, and users will be expected to coordinate their schedules accordingly. To reserve a carrel space, please contact Dr. Millsap at [email protected]
Hours of Operation during Renovation
The Library has new hours of operation:
- 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM – Mon. through Fri.
- 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM – Sat.
- The Library will close during chapel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as normal.
For the duration of the renovation, databases and other online resources will continue to be available with no interruption in service.
Let us know how we can help you in your research needs during this transition.
