Covid Policy and Guidance

In order to love our neighbor and limit the spread of Covid-19 on the campus of MBTS and Spurgeon College as well as to meet the instructions of civil authorities, the following policy will be in place until further notice is given:

To facilitate a healthy campus, Students, Faculty, and Staff are encouraged to be vaccinated and we expect community members to practice good hygiene.

The following guidelines apply to all individuals, regardless of vaccination status or prior COVID infection.

EXPOSURE TO COVID 19

  • Start Precautions Immediately
  • NO Isolation or Quarantine Required if symptom free
    • If you begin showing symptoms, see WHEN TO ISOLATE section below
  • Wear a Mask as soon as you learn you have been exposed.
  • Start Counting from Day 1
    • Day 0 – Day of last exposure
    • Day 1 – First full day since last exposure
  • Day 5 – Get tested, even if you don’t show symptoms
    • If you test Negative, continue Masking through Day 10
    • If you test Positive, see WHEN TO ISOLATE section below
  • Testing after exposure is necessary with the following exception:
  • Individuals who are symptom free and have tested positive for COVID with the 31 days prior to exposure are not required to be tested again.

WHEN TO ISOLATE

  • Sick and suspect you have COVID, but do not yet have test results
    • If you test Negative, end your isolation
    • If you test Positive, follow recommendations below

IF YOU TEST POSITIVE

  • Mask Immediately
  • With no symptoms
    • Day 0 – Day you were tested
    • Day 1 – First full day after test date
    • End Isolation on Day 5

    • If you develop symptoms within 10 days of test date, clock resets to Day 0 on the day symptoms begin.
  • With symptoms
    • Day 0 – Day of symptom onset
    • Day 1 – First full day after symptoms being
    • End Isolation on Day 5 IF:
    • You are fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication
    • Your symptoms are improving

Should isolation be required:

  • Students should notify their faculty members via campus email and coordinate to participate in a Zoom portion of class if available until the isolation is lifted.
  • Students in dorm housing should work with their RA to evaluate the next steps of quarantine should the need arise. MBTS and Spurgeon College have a flexible support network to ensure the student’s needs are met while helping to protect others.
  • Faculty and staff should report their isolation to their immediate supervisor. MBTS will evaluate the situation and work with the employee for the best course of action to maintain productivity during the isolation period.

Quarantine or isolation is never desired, but it is necessary to help maintain the health of our campus community. We will work together with grace and flexibility as we walk through this together.
