I love to serve local churches as Assistant Dean of the Global Campus, home of Midwestern’s online programs, and as Assistant Professor of Christian Studies. Before leading Midwestern Seminary’s online studies efforts, I served in a variety of roles at the seminary, including managing church-based theological education and advising online students. I have been active in serving Southern Baptist churches firsthand as a college and worship pastor, a teaching pastor, and now as one of the pastors of Northside Fellowship, a church plant in the KC Northland.

I am a graduate of Ozark Christian College (BA, Christian Ministry) and a two-time graduate of Midwestern (MDiv and PhD, Biblical Theology). My dissertation considered the Bible’s use of the ‘covenant formula’ (“I will be your God, and you will be My people”), how that relates to Christ’s session in the ‘heavenly council,’ and why it’s applied to the international church. I’m currently writing (with co-author Joseph Lanier) an introduction to Christian spirituality through the lens of the seven classic virtues (tentatively available fall 2026 from B&H Academic).

Most importantly, I am a grateful Christian and church member, a happy husband to Lauren, and an excited dad of three boys—twins Ebenezer (Ben) and Hezekiah (Ki) and baby Boaz (Bo). Ki’s traumatic brain injury has presented our family many challenges but teaches me every day of God’s love. Lauren and I enjoy drinking good coffee, eating good tacos, inviting friends over for spiritual conversation, and walking with our boys at the park.
