Joe M. Allen III

Dr. Joe M. Allen III serves as Assistant Professor of Missions at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He earned his Ph.D. in Applied Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Th.M. in World Missions and Historical Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Georgia.

From 2007 to 2021, Dr. Allen and his family served with the IMB in South Asia in Muslim and Hindu contexts. As a field worker, team leader, and then assistant cluster leader, he led his team in evangelism, pastor training, church planting, literature production, and relief work.

Dr. Allen is the author of a series of theology books for kids called “Big Thoughts for Little Thinkers,” which includes The Trinity, The Gospel, The Scripture, and The Mission. He also wrote a gospel tract called, “Welcome to Heaven,” which has been printed over 10 million times and translated into more than 20 languages. His research interests include Trinitarianism, missiology, Islam, evangelism, and cross-cultural studies.

Dr. Allen titled his dissertation, “Soteriological Adoption for Muslim Evangelism: Engaging Muslims with the Trinitarian Love of God.”

He is married to Christy, and they have two children, Claire and Joe IV. He loves drawing, reading, traveling, and writing in his spare time.
