The Student Pastor Summit at Spurgeon College is a one-day conference aimed at equipping and refreshing student ministers as they raise up the next generation of Christian leaders. The Summit provides a space for student pastors to think through issues facing the next generation, network with others, and be refreshed for the work of the ministry. 2020 keynote speakers include Sam Bierig, Jared Bumpers, Joel Muddamalle, and Alex Duke. Ticket price includes lunch, dinner, and book giveaways.

Samuel Bierig serves as Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies and Dean of Spurgeon College. He also serves as an elder at Liberty Baptist Church. Sam is pursuing his Ph.D. in Biblical Theology at Midwestern and holds degrees from Southern Seminary, and Ouachita Baptist University. He is the author of Fulfill Your *Student Ministry: A Manifesto and Field Guide (2020).

Jared Bumpers

Jared Bumpers is the Director of Student Life and Events and serves as Assistant Professor of Preaching and Ministry at Midwestern Seminary. Prior to joining the team at Midwestern, Jared served for over a decade as a student pastor, then as an associate pastor of preaching, at a church in southwest Missouri. He has also served as an interim pastor and spoken at numerous conferences throughout the United States.

Alex Duke

Alex Duke

Director of Youth Ministry, Third Avenue Baptist Church
Louisville, KY

Alex Duke is the editorial manager of 9Marks. He lives in Louisville, Kentucky, where he also serves Third Avenue Baptist Church as the director of youth ministry and ecclesiological training. He studied Mass Communications and Creative Writing at Western Kentucky University and earned his M.Div. from Southern Seminary in 2017.

Joel Muddamalle

Joel Muddamalle

Director of Theology and Research at Proverbs 31 Ministries

Joel Muddamalle serves as the Director of Theology and Research at Proverbs 31 Ministries. Prior to Proverbs 31, he worked at Faithlife Corporation, the makers of Logos Bible Software as a National Conference Speaker. Joel is married to Brittany and they have three sons (Liam, Levi, Lucas). Joel is a Ph.D. student at Midwestern Seminary with an emphasis in Theology. Joel’s passion is to teach the Bible and help others see how possible it is for everyone to unpack the depth and beauty of God’s Word and experience its transformative power in their lives.
